Angkor Village Resort

On my quick little excursion to Siem Reap, Cambodia in order to visit the infamous Angkor Wat, we stayed at the lovely Angkor Village Resort. This lush green luxury resort is just a short 13 minute tuk tuk ride to the temples of Angkor. It was the perfect place to relax after exploring the temples which necessitates climbing many stairs in the hot sun. Exhausting, but totally worth it πŸ˜‰

We stayed in newly built Henri Marchal Suite. It was named after a French architect and archaeologist who had lived on this land and was involved in the conservation and restoration of Angkor. When we first saw our room, I was astonished at the sight because it is literally a GIANT TREEHOUSE! I always loved the idea of treehouses but have never been in one. Needless to say I was thrilled because I think this may be one of the coolest treehouse in existence!

The room was expansive including a large living room, master bedroom, secondary bedroom with two twin beds, a balcony, and the most beautiful bathroom I’ve ever set foot in. There is also a complimentary room service breakfast with a delicious selection of western and local cuisine. The whole resort is surrounded by a lush tropical garden so it was very calming to just stroll around and explore the grounds. We heard music outside on one of the nights so we followed the sound and found a live band playing the classics at the on-site restaurant/lounge.

Whenever I want to go relax at a hotel pool, I’m always secretly hoping that it would not be crowded. It’s definitely not an issue here at all. My favorite feature of this resort is their 250 meter river shaped swimming pool that runs along the property so there is plenty of room for everyone and you can easily find total seclusion if that’s your preference. There are canoes you can travel along the pool with and you’ll also find a friendly worker rowing around on one offering a mini bar service!

Overall, my stay at Angkor Village Resort was nothing short of amazing and I’m so lucky and glad to have it as a very memorable experience on my first trip to the Kingdom of Cambodia.
